An unexpected rainy day led to some pickling, preserving and general using up of the garden produce that has been piling up today. Pickled gherkins, and rhubarb chipotle bbq sauce all put away for winter. M gave me a hand to make rhubarb custards with the rhubarb that was left, which we ate for our “gouter”. I’ve been enjoying our rhubarb such a lot this year I’ve been thinking that I might just have to plant an extra two or three next year, especially since seeing recipes for rhubarb salsa online, hmm.
The shelves are already getting full of jars and so Alex has been working on an extra cupboard to put up in the kitchen. Can’t wait for that! He’s very handy this husband of mine.
