We are at last bringing ripe tomatoes into the kitchen. Blight killed off my plants two years running so words cannot express my delight in seeing a beautiful crop of tomatoes actually ripening! I planted 25 plants this year in the hopes of canning enough untill next season. It seems however I could probably plant the whole plot with just tomatoes and still not get enough for the year. How short time seems when planning a garden. For these I’m going to can them whole, in salsa (with peaches and chipotle) and as a plain sauce for pasta. We’re also enjoying eating them fresh of course, the best way of all.
